Without a doubt, Kanye West is well-known for his erratic and eccentric behavior. While his behavior is often deemed funny or even strange, in many cases it is classified as downright rude. A popular case in point is when Kanye West sniped Taylor Swift after she won the award for Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards for “You Belong with Me.” As Swift gave her speech, Kanye couldn’t resist getting on stage to say,
“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”
Instantly, this dig became the basis for the ever-popular “I’ma let you finish” meme that appears frequently on the Internet and even in person. In fact, the meme is so popular that even Kanye West, rather than feeling shame, is in on the joke. Recently, Kanye West pulled a “Kanye” at his friend’s wedding. During the wedding toast for his friend’s wedding, he interrupts the speech to jokingly recite his infamous “I’m let you finish…” line. By the time the guests and married couple realized what was happening, they were all cracking up.
Without a doubt, Kanye West will probably never be able to live down his “I’ma let you finish” speech. However, based on Kanye West’s recent banter at his friend’s wedding, it appears that he has come to terms with this fact and may even embrace this moment as a part of his identity.
