The current year may be 1719 and not 2016.

How would you feel if you woke up one day and was told it was actually the year 1719? You’d probably be shocked.

According to the Phantom Time Hypothesis asserted by Heribert Illig, the Roman Emperor Otto III wanted to rule during the year AD 1000, and so he, along with a couple of other powerful people, fabricated the Anno Domini dating system retrospectively.

This was apparently achieved by altering, misrepresenting, and forging documentary and physical evidence. If this were true, then that would mean that almost three centuries of our history were completely made up.
